Dublin Central Mission

Founded in 1893, DCM is a part of the Methodist Church in Ireland, committed to expressing the Christian faith in a practical manner in the Dublin area. DCM is centered around the church congregation in Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1 which seeks to provide a ministry oriented towards the needs apparent in its city centre location.A further key component is DCM's services to the older person provided though the two sheltered housing complexes at 'Margaretholme' and 'Ailt an Oir'. Information on these is found atwww.dcmiss.ie/housingas well as the Mount Tabor Care Centre and Nursing Home in Sandymount. Information is found at

All these services to the older person are provided on the basis of need, not creed or denominational background.

Abbey Steeet Methodist Church
Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1

Abbey Street Methodist Church is one of the most accessible churches in the city of Dublin. We are located just 75 metres from O'Connell St. (the most prominent street in the capital ).  Our Congregation is noted for the warmth of its welcome. Visitors and tourists are made especially welcome.

Our desire is to grow both numerically and spiritually as we share the message and reality of Christ's love to all who worship with us. The congregation is a truly international group with people from different continents and countries. We therefore have the privilege of growing together and witnessing to the unity we share in Christ.

If you have any question you would like to ask then feel free to contact us at the email address info@dcmiss.ie. Please know that a warm welcome awaits you if you come to worship with us.

Minister: Rev. John Stephens

Worship Services

Morning Service. Sunday 11a.m.
Dublin Central Mission's Sunday service is a gathering of people from many different backgrounds and countries. We have many visitors and there is a warm welcome forall that come through our doors. Many people who have visited the Sunday morning  worship have appreciated the friendliness of the congregation, and become part of the church community.

Our prayer is to be a growing church both spiritually and numerically as people come to personal faith in Christ and have the opportunity to use their God given gifts and talents in the life of the church and the wider community.

Citylight - Contemporary Praise & Worship. Sunday 7.00p.m.

This is a more informal evening service led by a praise and worship group. It has been encouraging to see a number of students and young people coming on Sunday evenings. There is the opportunity for prayer at the close of the service, followed by a cup of tea and an opportunity to chat together.

Service for healing and wholeness. Wednesday 1.05p.m.

Dublin Central Mission believes and has seen that God continues to heal people of physical, spiritual and emotional needs. We desire to be part of that ministry and as a visible sign of this we have an opportunity for prayer for healing each Wednesday.

This short service lasts for 30 minutes and during this time there are prayers, readings and a short meditation on scripture. The opportunity is then given for those who would like specific prayer either for themselves or someone else to come for the laying on of hands and prayer.

Self-Help Groups
Abbey Street Church, the flagship of Dublin Central Mission, attracts approximately 2,500 people through its doors every week. Throughout the week, many self-help groups meet on the premises. A typical week would look something like this:
Monday:       Alanon, Narcotics Anon (N.A.), Gamblers Anon (G.A.), Aware, National Assoc. of Widows,
                     Coeliac Society.
Tuesday:      Alanon, N.A., Trinity Alanon, Sexaholics Anon., Survivors Incest Anon.
Wednesday: Alanon, N.A., Alcoholics Anon x 2, Food Addicts Anon, National Assoc. of Parent Support,                                       Glen College Rehab Group, National Federation of Pensioners Assoc.
Thursday:    Alanon, A.A., Adult Children of Alcoholics
Friday:        Alanon, Parent Support.
Saturday:    Alanon, Alateen, A.A., N.A., Overeaters Anon, Naranon Family Support Group, Organisation for the                           Recovery Institutionalised Adults, Mental Health Mind Matters Group.

All of the above groups are helping fulfil the Mission of the Church, in helping people overcome the many social problems of today. It is quite remarkable to see the difference in people after they have attended and continue attending these meetings. It is heartening to see the Mission facilities being used to such good effect. Many other
organisations also make good use of the facilities throughout the week.
